Production development..begins!!!

up till now…alot of my work has been refined and develped over time:
from choosing an arena stage, a thrust stage was chosen over the other option due to many factors..such as the actors dont want to have their back towards the audience at any time. It would’ve been a challenge to take on but we decided not to.
during our peformance, we were going to serve dinner, it has changed to snacks…and maybe no food on all..Our logo has changed. It is the logo on Monds blog, however with my added little picture of a waiter holding/serving a theatre mask.
We were originally going to have circular shaped tables, but instead i have organised square shaped tables…that are folding tables.
Throughout the process, i have listened to others opinions on my work, and have changed, adapted and switched ideas and plans around. This is how i have shown my ability to work collaboratively.
the things i have been doin so far to demonstrate my applicaiton of stagecraft is:
promotion : organised,changed, refined logo
thought of ways to promote play: at assembly, posters, flyers, on the loudspeaker, on the computer message screens, Mond and I have so far, put a small message about the upcoming yr 12 production, on the scopus captains website.
Set design:
list of things to go on table(table setting)
planned set
organised tables
organised ‘prints’ that will be used in our play setting
use classroom chairs
research on platforms for actor’s tables
research on 80’s bars/bistros
Designed setting matched to the ’space’ that we are going to use for our play setting
How my work will affect/link to others in the production team:
my set that i design, will affect Scot (the director) because he has to use the set and block to suit the actors and the play
the tables that i have ordered will link with Melinda (in charge of costume). she has to show me her ideas of what is on the table, n how to place the objects.
I have to also work/have worked with Mond(sound) and Goofball (lighting) to organise where lights and sounds will come from, within my set desi gn.
ciao..thats all for now…

Ok, i agree with mondy….Mond I like your idea bout the ticket pricing…maybe we have to consider if the audience will by tickets…for such pricing…and if two nights without food..and one night with..
but..the thing is…if there is only one night with food..i figure..that most people would want to come on that night..considering it would be fun and diferent with the added treats that we would supply with the show…let me know what you think…and i do like the idea of B.Y.O..but would our School let..hmm that is also another issue..?despite what the states rules and regulations are..!!but we will talk at school about it!

Ok…with promotion…I like Monds logo idea..but i was discussin the idea with scottie, how there is room on either side of the logo..we could put one of my designs on the logo aswell..eg.(the chef or waiter holding a theatre mask)…coz it make good of the space and i think it would look really good!

i was thinking of some way to promote our production…here are some ideas from brett(the technician from the BPAC)
1. at an assembly
2. take photos and stick around campus
3. posters, flyers
4. on the computer screens that have messages on them (eg. in the caff)
5.send invites out (may be too difficult)
those are just few ideas…if any of you have any more please let me know..
and that is for anyone hoo reads this!!!

for set design…i have sent a message to Wayne Porthouse ( a guy at school can organise these types of things) to try and organise tables …for our production:
here is the message i sent him:
Dear Wayne Porthouse,

I am Kimberley Schmideg and I am in charge of the set for the year 12 theatre studies production. Our play is unique in that the audience will set at round tables, as will the actors – the play is set in a restaurant.

Our preference would be to use round tables of which there are plentiful at Gandel Besen House. We require 2 of these tables from next week until the end of the production week which will be the 22nd of May. An extra 8 will be needed and I will require them from Bump-in on Monday the 14th of May until the 22nd. ‘

Also these tables will require transport from Gandel Besen to Burwood Campus (we are staging the play in the Space in the BPAC).
Kind Regards,
Kimberley Schmideg

thats it for now..if u guys have any ideas for set design or promotion…run them by me..
ciao for now
xx kim

Set design soo far..:
ok..so our class have chosen After dinnner..i think it was because of the range of funny characters…great possible set ideas..blah blah..
ma two stage craft elements are set design and promoting
promoting will be alot of fun..hang out posters, cards, invitations and things lyk that
set design is pretty good so far…got some good ideas…because we are doing..after dinner..the set will be life a restaurant..but the audience will be part of the set…that creates a good actor/audience relationship..i guess….we were thinkin of havin like meals..but snacks are easier..
kk gtg luvs ya all..
